I really wanted to love this book as it was highly recommended based on some of my other favorite books (Ove, Eleanor Oliphant, Britt-Marie, etc.) I did love parts of it, and Allan is certainly a charming character, but there were certain chapters that seemed to drag because they were so history-heavy and I’m not someone who has ever enjoyed history. The first half of the book was better than the second, in my opinion. I wish there was more focus on present-day Allan than there was on past-day Allan. A fun read overall, but definitely had its slow parts
