One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez
2.0
challenging dark mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

What honestly even was this?
I did love the writing and imagery and the reoccurring themes and symbols.
But man
was the constant incest, pedophilia and bestiality truly needed? And if I have to read one more time about how a girl/woman suddenly loooves the dude cause has a big manhood, I'll scream.
This was so obviously written by a man. Although honestly the women in this book had the more interesting personality and life. But I do abhor the way the author is so focused on the beauty and sexuality of women. Especially since his sense of women and sexuality seems so horribly skewed.

I enjoyed the beginning, the beautiful portrayal of magical realism and the ending.
But probably just cause they all died and I enjoyed their suffering because I suffered.

Would only reccomend if you do not care about getting invested into the story and only read this book for analyzing it or just enjoying the ride of doom.
