This was a pleasant surprise I stumbled on. I devoured it in 2 days because, the story was constantly evolving at a rapid pace. I found it too hard to put down.
I was skeptical going in to this because, I’d recently read ACOTR series & thought this might be too familiar, or not as good, since I hadn’t heard much buzz around it….WRONG!! So far, the story is exhilarating.
Reyna, is a little annoying, in the way she has to fight absolutely anyone on anything. She just can’t learn to shut her mouth and stop making things worse for herself and her friends. By the end of the book though, I’d gotten used to it and settled in to her characteristics more.
Maz seems as deep as the ocean with a treasure chest stuffed of secrets. I suspect deep down he’s not a bad guy but, maybe he’s too accustomed at playing the villain? Either way, he’s met his match with Reyna.
I’m on to book 2 tomorrow, couldn’t resist with this one ending on a cliff hanger.

Good October read with its dark and menacing aesthetic.
