I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

5.0

Alright, reading this took me longer than I would have liked, but that comes with the fact that it is a memoir. Usually novels that are based on true stories or are memoirs tend to take me longer to read. This is more to due with the fact that I want to read every detail and take my time reading the book. I came in reading knowing some of the basic facts, the abuse she suffered on Nickelodeon and the fact that her mother pressured her to be an actress. But reading the abuse she suffered in her mother's care was fucking brutal and it's amazing to see what she has been able to do by healing and coming to terms with the abuse. Even worse, her mother put her in an environment filled with nothing but pure fucking abusers and deranged adults. It's fucking ridiculous reading and seeing how much she has been through because of it. This memoir is definitely my top shelved and will come to be one of my top reads on 2022.
