This was a fun thriller that takes place at a resort where the woolly mammoth has been de-extincted by scientists. The setting is reminiscent of Jurassic Park and there are even a few jokes about Jurassic Park made by the characters. There were definitely some twists that I did not see coming and I enjoyed the ride overall. This book did include a pet peeve of mine, however, where the male author does not do justice to the female lead investigator in his writing. He points out several times that she sleeps in the nude (for convenience) and makes quite a few references to her weight. I don't know why male authors feel the need to do things like this when writing female characters (they don't say anything like this about their male characters) and I just find it really annoying and off-putting.
