Coraline by Neil Gaiman

4.0

Coraline Jones family moves from her hometown to the Pink Palace Apartments where she feels board, ignored and alone. When exploring she finds a hidden passage in the parlor here, she finds wondrous things but not all is as it seems.

This read has dark childish vibes that you wouldn’t usually find in a child’s story. I’m a fan of the movie, so I was a bit disappointed not to see some of the same characters, but I’m happily surprised to find I enjoyed both equally.
Spoiler I found it so chilling the Other Mother needed promising to sow buttons into her eyes.
Coraline is a kid’s book, but it’s styled for everyone.
