Book Lovers by Emily Henry
2.0
I have some thoughts on this but don't know if I want to repeat myself necessarily. I am 95% of the way through and don't care to see how it ends, because once the conflict between the sisters starts at 85% I cannot care. I actually liked the way the family relationship was explored at first, but the pacing of it in the midst of the romance just made me annoyed by the end.
I also like, expected more out of this book from its characters I think, like way more emotional intelligence from either side.
Charlie and Nora's banter was good, but again with the pacing of the sibling plot line and their romance it doesn't quite make sense at times and seems overly indulgent.
I have lots of thoughts, but I think nothing in this book got enough breathing room to be in depth enough. The romance and sibling relationship is so shallow in hindsight of everything. I don't think I'll be trying another Emily Henry again, since it's 3 out of 3 not working for me. However, I do find this book very very readable. The first 70% of this book I devoured and then I was glancing at the time left in my audiobook from there, so it deserves at least the 2 stars from me, but I definitely understand why people like it. I do have a lot to say about it I think too, which I think is a good thing? Maybe?
