Good Kings Bad Kings by Susan Nussbaum

In my mind, I'm reading this with high school students. People who are beginning to questing the validity of their institutions, who are piecing together a political identity. The diversity of characters and their voices was surprising. The strong Latinx voices were beautiful and personal and powerful. Better than Candide and The Prince, which work towards a similar end. This takes themes from both, contextualizes them within a modern framework, and makes no mistake about offering up a solution. A mirror.
