Empire of Storms is a lot of readers favorite or at least TOP 2 book of the series. In all honesty, I have definitely enjoyed the others more. So much is happening in this book, that I am getting whiplashfrom all the scheming and secrets and love interest and different couplesβ¦
Did I still enjoy this book? Yes. But there are things that bothered me.
Up until this book we have had no spice, only suggestive or closed door romance. I think for this series that fit, and I feel like the sex scenes were too much, and they honestly just made me disconnect from the book. I found myself wanting to skip scenes cause I was like βugh whatever.β
The second thing that bothered me was that everyone is paired up, has a love interest or more. What do you mean we now have seven couples in the series? Can we just focus on getting our home kingdom back without EVERYONE falling in love or lusting for someone?
I also feel like the series that I have loved so much is turning into the same type of series as ACOTAR. And I enjoyed ACOMAF, but I knew what I signed up for in those books. Here it just feels out of place, repetitive and honestly just meh. I did sense this shift happening after the first two books, but now it has full on turned into the same thing.
Overall, Iβm still giving it a 3 1/2 star read because I did still enjoy the story and I am already invested in the lives of our characters, so thatβs what saved the star rating.
Also, I definitely am an advocate for the tandem read!!!
