The Wall by Marlen Haushofer

4.0

Chapter 1 is a lesson in slow-boiling tension and dread. After that, the book becomes a peaceful read in a weird way. The audiobook was great for sleep with its detailed descriptions of day-to-day survival. So I have to admit, I missed the finer points after trying to repeat sections and eventually carrying on.

Still, I was compelled to finish and glad I did. Maybe rereading this in written form one day is in the cards.
