The Guardians by John Grisham

3.0

I love mysteries and the show Law and Order, so I assumed I would love lawyery books, especially with such high ratings! I liked the plot, with the main character being a preacher/lawyer practically taking an oath of poverty to get innocent people out of prison. The book just didn't hold me like mysteries do. I wasn't hooked. Obviously, I was hoping for the best for the characters, but it didn't feel urgent to keep reading. I guess it felt like what the appeals process sounds like: drawn out, there's a lot to keep track of, and it was easy to forget about if you aren't interested or participating.
