There were parts I liked less than others. This read very memoir to me, but maybe that's because a lot of memoirs read like a coming-of-age story, and that's primarily what this book was. The overall tone was pretty sad, Maddie grows up with definite hardship and hasn't really had the opportunity to live life until the age of 25. She definitely stumbles through her fair share of ups and downs in different friendships and relationships.
The "okay? Okay" really got me 🥲 so yeah, definitely shed a tear or two
If accents are your thing, Maddie's voice is consistently in a British accent throughout the audiobook with the occasional Ghanian and American accent from other characters.
