Give Me a Sign by Anna Sortino
3.0

a fun YA book with representation for the Deaf community! i enjoyed the summer camp setting, and I think the way Anna Sortino portrayed Deafness in the writing of this book was thoughtfully crafted. (and i like how it translated to the audiobook version!) i appreciate how we got to see so many different characters, each with a unique perspective and backstory. unfortunately, i wasn't as big of a fan of the plot, especially the part where the counselors (many underage) went to a bar—while maybe realistic, it just wasn't very fun to read about, and i feel like there should have been more repercussions. i would have loved to see more light-hearted camp times and gotten to witness firsthand what made this camp so special and beloved. in conclusion: this book has so many important messages, and i'm glad it exists in a YA space! the story wasn't perfect for me, but i hope it connects with younger readers!
