This book was so amazing and I am so surprised I loved it as much as I did. This is exactly what I look for in romantasy books!! There are so many things that happened in this book that I will probably still be thinking about months from now because the writing was incredible and the characters were so relatable and inspiring. I found this book to be easily immersable and the world-building was easy to understand while also having its complex areas. As much as I wish we could've seen the dragons more I can understand why we didn't and I honestly did not mind at all because of how well the plot was executed throughout this book.

Elowen Atarah is such an amazing character and I absolutely LOVED the growth and development she went through in this book. in the beginning, you can tell she has a princess mindset but also somewhat of a queen mindset when it comes to her people. but throughout this book, her character went through so much growth and it shows at the end of the book. she is such a strong and lethal fighter it was very impressive how well she could fight and stand up for herself.... an absolute badass. She is such a sarcastic and witty character and I found myself laughing a lot at the things she would say or do. She made me cry at some points in the book though let me tell you....

Cayden Veles......... the broody, possessive, and lethal man he is. he was the epitome of "touch her and die" If anyone was ever mean or tried to cause harm to Elowen he would immediately execute them. He is such a loyal and courageous character in this book not only to Elowen but also to his friends and Elowen's family. the constant flirting and funny banter between him and Elowen were definitely the highlight of this book.

The side characters were my absolute favorite except for the one at the beginning but I won't spoil that for you :)
but I love them all dearly and they were all so funny with their sibling bond and the sarcastic comments from Saskia were my favorite.
The plot I feel held strong until the very end and I genuinely really enjoyed this book and I don't think I've ever really read anything like it before. I am sooooo excited for when book 2 is announced and comes out because I am eager to get back into this world immediately.

one con I had for this book is the world-building and magic system. I was hoping there was going to be more world-building as we went along in the book but I feel like it was lacking in that area. also, I'm super intrigued by the magic system but we didn't get much explanation for it.

overall I loved this book even with the small cons I had and I am excited to reread and continue this series!!
