Read as a tandem read with Empire of Storms and it took me a month to read it. But this is my favorite of the series! I loved that it was mainly character driver and we really got to know everything about the characters - no Aelin level surprises in this book. Anyone who says SJM doesn’t write BIPOC characters obviously hasn’t read this book. Beautifully written, Chaol’s healing journey was heartbreakingly relatable. Great commentary on ableism and the societal perception masculinity. I loved all the new characters and I really hope they’re heavily featured in KOA! I love Sartaq and Nesyrn’s story, I want more of them for sure!
