Oh what a ride this book was! I was entranced by this book! I thought it was so cool to read about a group of people who have powers (kind of like superheros). This was so much fun to read! The ending blindsided me and I'm not sure I can forgive Marie for it, but I have a feeling of what is to come in the second book because of that ending. And if what happens in the second book is what I think will happen... Then I can probably forgive Marie for tearing out my heart!
I really liked Adelina Amouteru. I thought she was completely bad ass and amazing! And when she turns at the end, I totally understand where she is coming from and I agree with her! Adelina went through a lot within this book. Betrayal, hurt, being used, death, etc. She was a trooper through it all. And if it were me, I'd probably not have been able to be that strong and keep going.
Enzo and Raffaele were my favorites within the Dagger Society. :) The rest of the Elites (Gemma, Lucent, and company) weren't bad, but we didn't really get to know a whole lot of them within this first book (other than what they can do), so I hope to get to know more of their personalities and what not in the coming books!
The ONLY reason why I gave this 4 stars is because of that ending. If it had ended ANY other way, it would have been a 5 star read for me. HOWEVER, since my heart was completely broken, I could not give it 5 stars. I do think that there will be some amazing things in the second book that will make up for the ending of the first book. And who knows, maybe I'm the only one who had a hard time with that ending?
