The Shadow of the Wind
by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
You know this feeling when you've just finished a book thinking nothing is going to top it?
Or this feeling that you'd sell your soul just to be able to read it for the first time again?
Yeah, that's pretty much what one's going to experience reading The Shadow Of The Wind. A wonderful book- a combination of The Book Thief and Origin maybe?
The aesthetic is immaculate: Barcelona, 1945, and I didn't even know this could be an aesthetic, but now I need more books like this.
The characters are beautifully written, all of them. Fumero reminded me of Jaber, from Les Miserables, and I loved every single character (except for him, ew).
However, the best thing yet is the plot. I mean, the plot twists are, like, a thousand or something and complete unpredictable.
To sum up:
A book about a book, but not really. Not exactly a mystery either. A love story but actually not.
Please, please, read it!
