A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles

4.0

Charming and witty. The entire book -from the Gentleman to the plot to the conversations-- can be described in only these two words. The setting and characters were extremely rich and the world building in this simple hotel was mind-bogglingly good. The way it ended was superb. My hesitation from giving it five stars stems simply from the fact that I didn't feel it clicked with me. Reading this book was like meeting a perfect man who just lacked that je ne sais quoin - there was no spark. After all, the magic of a book happens when the perfect book meets the perfect reader; I just was not the perfect reader in this occasion. I won't revisit this book, but I have no doubt it will be the favorite book of the right person.
