We'll Prescribe You a Cat

the premise of the book is very simple, and each chapter repeats a similar pattern you’ll notice in the others. the difference lies in the problems the “patients” are facing—burnout from work, inner child wounds, perfectionism, grief and loss, and so on— and the specific cats the doctor prescribes to them.
as someone who’s never had a pet before, i found it really heartwarming to see the interactions between the owners and their cats. they grow fond of each other so quickly, and without any dramatic conflict, the cats end up quietly healing and helping their temporary owners.
the overall storyline feels warm, and somehow a little bizarre. i’d even say it’s dreamlike, almost as if the characters are hallucinating.
in the end, maybe the book just wants to say that healing doesn’t always have to be loud or complex. sometimes, it just takes a quiet presence and a bit of kindness, even if it comes with whiskers.
