4.5 as an exuberant true crime aficionado, this was a wonderful change of pace to my usual bright contemporaries. i was thoroughly entertained by the plot, although predictable (i guessed the second half of the book correctly), and i was hooked onto the characters and their secrets within the naturals.
in my personal opinion, jennifer lynn barnes’ writing style is near perfect for mysteries + crime related stories. it’s direct, with detail added where it’s needed. that’s probably why i enjoyed the inheritance games! i can never tire from following along with true crime cases and attempting to piece together loose ends and such, and the writing made it so easy to fly through the book.
i really can’t wait to get more of cassie and dean (and michael and lia and sloane) in the next books. i hope they’re as entertaining as this first installment was!
