This book really made me cry. I got really attached to Betty as she is growing and navigating through life.
thinking of how sweet this book started makes the ending hurt stronger. the tone of the book is already set from the first chapter with her sleeping on the hood and listening to her father’s stories. her relationship with her father felt so real. him being so human and comforting and reading his last days so heartbreaking. betty having to lose sibling after sibling after sibling and being the caretaker of their stories was well written. there’s sm i want to say about this book and i feel like i dont have the right words.
