Of Darkness and Ruination was so good! I listened to the audiobook and could not put it down. Asteria is a mortal and every mortal when they reach the age of 21 must show up for Placement Day. Placement day is when these humans are placed in their new kingdoms to serve their new masters. Asteria was chosen by Dusk Kingdom to serve their Prince, Cyrus Tynan. Cyrus is a terrible, manipulative abuser. I was scarred for Asteria every time they were in the same room. There is definitely spice but some of it was more used as forced punishment over consensual choice. The other kingdoms all think that the Night Kingdom is starting war with the other kingdoms starting with Dusk. Who are the real enemies? It’s hard to tell from the start but as the story continues, you are given more and more of an idea who the real villains are. And that cliffhanger ending! Omg can we get book 2 asap?! Ahh, just again, so good!
