Someone Else's Honeymoon
by Phoebe MacLeod
After being dumped on Christmas by her boyfriend of 10 years Charley is thrust out into a completely new world and life. She reconnects with her family who support her during this time and does the typical new me, new hair, new wardrobe type deal with her best friend. Then her parents invite her on a trip with them to the beach where we meet sweet Ed. We find out Ed is on his “honeymoon” after being left at the alter by a woman he’d never actually met. Charley and Ed’s relationship starts out from that conversation and we follow along with their “honeymoon” vacation from there.
This book started out really comically with the nature of the beginning breakout. It was moving along great but I was confused that we didn’t meet Ed until almost halfway into the book. The writing both felt rushed at times and a little slow at other parts. I can say I was never invested in the lives of the characters and felt like a lot of the filler information over powered the main story.
I didn’t love the instant connection of Ed and Charley and honestly didn’t feel the chemistry between them. I liked the overall idea how how they meet but there was just that spark missing.
Overall I’d say:
⭐️ ⭐️ for storyline
