Great Big Beautiful Life
by Emily Henry
This book felt different from Emily Henry’s other books, but I still loved it! At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about learning the backstory of the big celebrity, Margaret, and her family history. I was more focused on Alice and Hayden’s romantic relationship. But the more I reflect on the story, the more I appreciate how well the entire book was written.
I found it fascinating to follow Alice’s perspective as a journalist and to see the process she went through to uncover the life of a celebrity she had admired growing up. Margaret’s story gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what it’s like to be a major celebrity, showing that there’s always more to the story than what we see through pictures and headlines.
Margaret’s early life story felt a bit confusing at first, but as I kept reading and reached the plot twist toward the end, I was completely thrown off in the best way and eager to keep going! While this book definitely delivered on romance, it also showed how a journalist’s brain works, how a celebrity’s life can get misunderstood or taken out of context, and how having tough conversations with the people you love is always worth it.
