The Measure
by Nikki Erlick
Starting to realize that any book with a Book Club stamp on it means it's going to be shallow drivel.
This book presents a situation that is so vast with many complications and questions about existence, but then the entire book explores these topics on such a bland, surface level. I'm not saying I needed an explanation on why this event happened, but I did need an exploration on deeper ramifications of how the world reacts to it.
The characters are bland and one-note. Most of the big moments these characters face is "Who am I going to marry?" or "Do I want children now that I know I'm going to die?"
Overall, the author's handling of this topic was just lazy and pitiful.
