Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

5.0

All the brilliance of Fredrik Backman (Beartown, A Man Called Ove) is right there from the beginning of Anxious People, even if the reader can't see that until later in the book. This one is pure genius, but the storyteller's master plan is hidden until - well, I know exactly which page it was but I'm no spoiler! It's like you realize you've been sitting in a room trying to cross stitch without half the lights on. All of a sudden, everything is clear and wonderful and you want to go back to the beginning and do it all over again now that you can see!
*P.S.- Did you know the expression "Stockholm Syndrome" (identifying and bonding with one's kidnapper) came from a botched bank robbery-turned-kidnapping?
