This book started off really strong. The first 15-20% was an introduction into this wonderful new world and to these fasinating characters. I think the author has really created something special here and I'm eager to know so much more about this universe in general. Where it fell off for me, was the pacing between the 20-80% mark; the first part of this story makes you believe it's going to be a romance with a decent amount of external plot (something I personally enjoy) and then it just doesn't happen. Most of this book is just the two main characters being super sweet to each other, which in itself is not an issue, but I generally want a bit more going on.
I do think the author is very talented, she has a way with words that you don't see very often. The characters were great; the importance of consent was also refreshing.
I will still check out further works, now I know what to expect I think I can pick the right time to read something with not as much going on.
I definitely recommend this book to those who love a slow, sexy urban fantasy - this was a mix of Cambric Creek and Crescent City vibes.
