The Blonde Who Came in From the Cold
by Ally Carter
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I adore Ally Carter as a writer and I would probably adore her as a person too. The Gallagher Girls series was my obsession for a solid decade, and I also loved Heist Society. I was really excited for her to break into adult romance novels, and while this was better than The Blonde Identity………..it wasn’t the magnificent story that I wanted.
My biggest complaint is the frankly excessive amount of tropes packed into one small book. It’s kind of like listening to a BookToker list off their favorite tropes in a thirty second TikTok. Grumpy x Sunshine x One Bed x I’ll Kill For You x He Falls First x Blah Blah Blah. I don’t like when books are so heavy handed with tropes. Like have a lil nuance, please.
I also struggled with the timeline jumping back and forth between the present and anywhere else in the last ten years. I think it did give us good background but maybe it should been more linear.
I still love you Ally, but this book was just okay.
