“When all I strive for each day is to convince my shadow I’m someone worth following.”

This was such a uniquely good book. I loved the writing and the characters, ugh and their development throughout the story 🥰. Loved it.

Mariko is just a girl on her way to marry the emperors son when her caravan is attacked and all them killed. She narrowly escapes into the forest and begins her plan to find the people responsible. How does she do this? Simple, she disguised herself as a boy and infiltrates the group she believes to be responsible responsible. She never could’ve guessed what she’d learn along the way.

Featuring a fiercely independent girl on a mission and a boy who questions his sexuality because of her.
