Everything is okay by Debbie Tung

emotional hopeful inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

3.5

I enjoyed Tung's other book, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World, and Everything is Okay follows the same cute format. The watercolour art is very charming. Every page is like a daily comic. They each stand on their own but also become a journey of the artist.

While Quiet Girl focused on the life of the introvert, Everything is Okay focused on depression.  So the tone of this one was heavier in comparison, but it doesn't get too heavy for those that may feel triggered by the topic.

I honestly wish it was a full graphic novel kind of story rather than this daily comic kind of collection. There is a sort of story here, but a lot of comics felt repetitive after a while and I just wanted to skip ahead to the end. It's filled with lots of little inspirational quotes but it didn't really hit like I wanted it to. I wish it pushed deeper into the topic and offered a deeper, more personal connection with the author.
