Ellen Outside the Lines by A.J. Sass
5.0
I really enjoyed this one.
A story of a 13 y.o. autistic girl, Ellen, who is head out on a 2 week school trip to Barcelona. She struggles with her changing friendship with her best friend, being in a new city with an unknown itinerary and a being placed on a team with people she doesn't know.
Along the way, we see Ellen learn to trust her new friends while she shows them what her autism looks like. And the discovery that she might be queer, after realizing she thinks girls are cute and meeting Isa, a new student who is proud and non-binary.
She makes mistakes along the way, but learns to expand her boundaries.
It is great to see Autism and non-binary representation, along with various religious beliefs displayed in such a normal everyday manner.
