Clipped Wings
by Helena Hunting
A seductive healing of two shattered souls.
I’ve read my fair share of inked, pierced and damaged bad boys and I’m pretty sure Hayden Stryker just cemented my love for them just as Tenley and his story reaffirms that I greatly enjoy reading about broken hearts that find a way towards healing even when we get an unresolved ending.
The blurb for this book caught my eye. It gave me a really good idea of what to expect and although the premise is not new, I find that each account is different in its own intricacies.
This man, that outwardly may seem menacing and deviant, has deep seeded fears and insecurities, but is also sweet, smart, has an infinite patience towards Tenley, with an OCD and a comical preschooler like addiction to cupcakes underneath all his inked armor which I found a heady combination.

Tenley’s doubts, lack of confidence and anxieties could have been cause for irritation on my part, but they were well earned due to her tragic past; and Helena balanced her character with qualities like feistyness, maturity and fortitude that made her equally loveable.

Hayden and Tenley were both very careful and even covetous about their pasts, but with each discovery of one another, they also reached a new level of intimacy that completely captivated me.
They were also surrounded by a close knit group of appealing friends and family that supported them and gave them a guiding hand or push in the right direction if one was needed. I even found myself wanting more scenes with those infamous cupcakes and the adorable TK.
In every page I read there was something I could comment about because I found it was funny, charming, scorching hot, sweet or incredibly deep. The dual point of view account gave me a better understanding of emotions and perspective. But when no more pages could be turned I found an uncanny need to stalk Helena Hunting for the next installment of the series.

* I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review from Netgalley. The excerpts are from that copy. *

“Do you think I’m too broken to be fixed?... I don’t want to be alone anymore.”

His palm stopped over my heart. “I want to be in here.”
