I find myself encountering this type of book more and more as I age ~ maybe it's me? The plot is engaging, but do I learn anything about human nature in its reading? As a novel, what is it that I want out of a novel?

All that aside, I do believe that this book degenerates somewhat into the cliched tropes of the way Chinese and Americans act.
