The Radiance of the King by Camara Laye, James Kirkup

4.0

The thing I appreciated the most about this book was the atmosphere - alien and impenetrable. It's a unique and strange text, and I enjoyed that strangeness lot. A bit of Kafka, a bit of 'Alice in Wonderland'. A little bit hard to read at times (the narrator is prone to feeling very sleepy, which infects the reader), but overall a very cool book.
