Maybe We Will by Melissa Foster

3.0

I wanted to love this one, and even though I feel like all the books that I have read my Melissa Foster are very formulaic I really thought that I might love this one. However it was just okay. I was kind of disappointed to be honest. We are introduced to Aiden in book one of the Sugar Lake series, and he seems like such a serious, take no crap business guy. He has a huge heart (as he gave up his dreams to take care of his 12 year old sister when he was 24), and is described as such a hot guy and I got "most eligible bachelor" vibes from him. I don't think that he lived up to my expectations. Like I said I feel like these books follow a very certain formula, and I knew that it would be insalovey, BUT I feel like that instalove changed everything about Aiden. He is a man who has never been in love, and has not wanted to be in a relationship and day one of meeting this random girl he's pulling out all the stops. I won't lie he was very swoony, but it was too much too soon in my option as this book took place over a month. I liked Abby enough as a heroine, I love her determination, commitment and her love for her family and friends, but she sometimes read as childish to me. As far as the relationship and steam it is what I have come to realize is typical Melissa Foster. Very instalove (again this book took place over just one month), decent banter, lots of steam, some funny moments and a HEA that should have been a HFN (IMO). Just like every other book I've read by this author we are introduced to about an entire small town, and I'm not sure if my time is just done with this author right now, but I didn't particularly care about any of them. The second book in the series comes out soon, and it is about Cait which I may read someday, but I'm in no hurry. And because I think these books are so formulaic/predictable I can predict who the 3rd book will be about and who her love interest will be (I will keep an eye out just to see if I'm right). I had to laugh looking at my read shelf and seeing six Melissa Foster books in a row. Looking at that you would think that she was my favorite author or that I loved these books so much, but ultimately they are just quick reads, and I know exactly what I am going to get out of them. They are not my favorite books, but I do enjoy my time with them, I love being able to catch up the the Dalton family from the previous two series and mostly I love that they are in KU with audible.
