The Magicians
by Lev Grossman
What if magic was real and a select few were allowed to study magic? This was a very interesting book and strange. It follows young Quentin as he goes for a college interview and instead is swept into the most challenging exam of his life at a mysterious school. The story of Quentin's studies is woven around his love of a fantasy story set in Fillory. Fillory reminded me of Narnia so much that I don't think I will ever think of Narnia the same way again. The full picture isn't clear until near the very end of the story so expect to be somewhat mystified until near the end. I enjoyed it a lot more than "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell" by Susanna Clarke.
Revision: Seeing geese fly over head on the way south know makes me think of wizards!
