The Crooked Sixpence by Jennifer Bell

3.0

Unique but I felt it got a bit long-winded (especially for the target age group). It was HP-esque in a way and a bit of the Borrowers also?– easy to see the influence. I really enjoyed the imaginative ideas of using “common” household objects and turn them into their opposites. Mr. Weasley would be a big fan!!!
The brother/sister relationship felt like a hard push – as the sister is the brains and the brother, possibly, the muscle? He really didn’t get much of a story, yet, this is the first of the series so maybe he develops more as the story goes on.
I picked it up because Jayne Entwistle is the narrator for the audiobook – and I listen to anything she works on.
