Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage: Stories by Alice Munro

3.0

Collections of short stories that seemed to have a running theme of infidelity amongst marriages. It’s somewhat depressing to read that people almost NEED that distraction/excitement to reignite something deep within in the mundaneness of a marriage. Some of the stories are more intriguing and memorable than others. There is a lot of room for interpretation throughout these stories that I, unfortunately, don’t have the knowledge nor experience to completely understand their hidden meanings at times. I ended up researching more about each short stories after reading them then realizing I was missing some major ideas. I did enjoy the writing style and the titles of each story, which kept me on my toes trying to figure out why the whole time.
