the beginning of this book had a disjointed and confusing writing style. I almost gave up at chapter 5 or 6 but i am pleased i persevered as the whole is definitely worth the read. The whole story appears to centre on client one event and its repercussions but it become clear that earlier events have all lead to this day. There is sometimes too much detail - for instance i do not understand why we have to know about all Madeleines patients although the dust sprinkling client does eventually have an understandable role.

" Grief is a walk alone" is one of the most telling lines for me
