You know that low-stakes part of a book set in a new school or location for the protagonist, where they're just making friends and learning their way around? The part that's a pause in-between the perilous parts of the plot? This is an entire book that's just the low-stakes part.
Spoilers, I guess:
it's pretty much an upward trajectory. Besides never running into trouble, he's brilliant and full of good ideas that somehow nobody has thought of before, starting with very obvious things like cleaning the coffee urns.
