I don't get how the ratings of this book are so high. I always try to finish my books, but I nearly gave up this one. I feel like more than half of the book could be cut and that would make no difference. I loved Hothouse Flower, but this one felt so forced and so redundant. I hate how Ryke's personality is made all about him being grumpy and always swearing. I hate how Daisy's personality turn around being immature and insecure AND wanting sooooo much a baby. It really felt like: oh no, my sisters are having babies and not me, I want to be included so I'm gonna have a baby too. Their age gap is way too much felt during this book.

Also, too many chapters were focused on unmeaningful events and flour bombs... I wish we saw Daisy in therapy, maturing and learning during her sessions. I wish we saw her worked on her "big" project. The book was very about telling but not showing, while it was more than 600 pages...

At least, the last third is better. The epilogue is good. I'm glad I finally finished this book.
