The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
5.0

“The great stories are the ones you have heard and want to hear again. The ones you can enter anywhere and inhabit comfortably.”

This book spreads you across time. It shows you how it feels to love something that is broken, to remember pain. It reminds you of your humanity, your frailty, and your strength. I could read it again and again.
Roy’s honesty is so refreshing. She lays bare the rawness of trauma and the jagged edges of healing— even if it makes you uncomfortable. Tenderly, she holds your hand through the house of history, and behests you to look at the truth.
This book is a true 21st century masterpiece.
