Girls Can Kiss Now: Essays
by Jill Gutowitz
I thought this book was funny and enjoyable throughout. While I do not expect that this book should be relatable to every WLW in the community, I found that her experiences aligned with my own very little. For that reason, I did not find myself relating to or really understanding a lot of her perspective and that made the book personally less enjoyable for me. I still liked reading it and I would recommend this to any WLW over the age of 27 without religious or parental trauma. Seeing that typed out makes me think this might not be relatable for a lot of people actually. That's the demographic this book is aimed at. I understand why the author doesn't explore more topics, because those are not her experiences but it just felt a bit narrow to me.
I also did not relate to the interest in pop culture and celebrities and so I was confused about most of the references that were discussed or broken down in this book.
