this book was completely its own. Initially i unknowingly was questioning the direction this book was taking, and by the middle of it i simply learned to trust it, and i’m so glad i did. Yoshimotos writing breathes a detailed and airy light into the Satsukis memories. I would say this book is flowing and lose but also so real, Yoshimotos weaves this dream like and raw writing that gently lays out emotions through these flowing experiences of Satsuki. By the end i was surprised by how raw and vivid her experiences were and specifically the delicately nuanced emotions Yoshimoto displayed. I’ve never read a book with writing and storytelling like this and what she was trying to display she was completely successful in doing, another reason i give this 4.5 stars. I am so happy i was recommended this book by my friend and for the time in my life it found me in. Im very glad, this is a gem :)
