The Angel of the Crows by Katherine Addison

3.0

Gosh, what to say about this sherlock wingfic. Um! I enjoyed it! I was entertained! I went in fully knowing this, as well as KA's tendency to have really neat ideas and worldbuilding concepts but really not much of a plot. What was a bit disappointing was the dip into gender presentation and sexuality, there for a minute and then gone and not really, truly addressed. The period racism was just... well. Can't say I liked seeing it in a self-proclaimed victorian steampunk set in england but my expectations in that weren't high, considering the source material. Other than that, the book was fun! A lot of the fun was seeing the level of KA's audacity, which knew no bounds and was super delightful, in it's own incredulous way. I enjoyed myself! Wished it were conceptually fuckier tho!
