Fracture by Megan Miranda

“I don’t know wheatear you’re acting like this because you know I’m going to kiss you and you’re nervous or you know I’m going to kiss you and you don’t want me to.” ~Troy

Fracture by Megan Miranda is the first debut I have read in 2012, and what an amazing debut it was!

Delany has been under water for 11 minutes already by the time Decker pulls her out…she should’ve died, but instead she wakes up after being in a coma for 6 days, no brain damage, she is walking and talking just fine, but something changed in Delany..she is started to sense things, and this new found sense is going to change her life forever.

Megan’s writing and the way she captures everything literally took my breath away, I could really feel and see everything that Delany was perfectly. Megan is one of the best writers I have ever seen (read?) she is incredibly detailed, but never did I notice she was overly detailed, her words flowed amazingly, I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t believe I was already finished with it. The pages flowed that well! You just can’t help but keep turning the pages, every time I thought of taking a break my mind would scream at me “NO you must keep going! You can’t stop here!” This is writing at its finest people!

Along with Fracture being an amazing read due to Megan’s writing, it also had an amazing storyline. I personally have not read a book like this one and I found it insanely creative and captivating, I loved the idea. A girl falls into the ice, and 11 yeah you heard me right, ELEVEN minutes later is pulled out by her best friend Decker, she should be dead! Instead though she feels fine, except when she starts feeling the pull and the itch inside of her…then she feels anything but fine. This whole story was amazing from beginning to end.

Now about the characters, I loved them. Delany is so caring; you couldn’t help but love her and feel sorry for her! She goes through so many tough moments in her life, but she always stayed strong and tried to keep herself together, she was truly an inspiring character. Decker I adored, he is so sweet and such a great friend to Delany, I am so glad things ended the way they did for him and Delany. Then there was Troy…poor poor Troy, he was a character at first I didn’t know what to think of, I wasn’t sure if he was the good guy or the bad guy, and even now I don’t know what to think of him, I was confused by him at first, then I realized he was very mysterious and it was kind of hot, so I liked him! Then some things changed so I wasn’t sure about him, I think in the end he was a good guy, that just lost his mind. Those I believe were the three main characters and I loved each of them, the rest of the characters were also just as enjoyable (besides Tara, yuk!)

Overall Megan’s flawless writing, inspiring characters, and amazing storyline really made this a must read for anyone that well, loves to read! It is a YA novel, but it could easily be enjoyed by people that don’t normally read YA (it’s not your typical YA). Although I truly loved this book, I was upset about how something’s went, and I also believe if it were made into a series it would be even more amazing (maybe it will someday? Who knows!) None of the less though, Megan is an author that everyone needs to watch, she is an incredible writer and I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next cause I already know it will be phenomenal.
