Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe
3.0

Despite the length and the old language, this novel captivated me initially, because I found Moll's exploits hugely amusing; much like something of an old soap opera character, and really enjoyed hearing both about her romances and failures, but also her personality in itself made the book very entertaining to read from. However, as it continued, I found it got more tedious, especially once I got to the thieving stage of her life - although is considered one of the key parts of the novel, I found it much less interesting. Furthermore, after a while, the constant introduction and departure of characters became slightly boring, when we never really got to know them, and did not feel an emotional connection, either between the reader and the characters, or between them and Moll. Overall, it was good, but started off better than it continued.
