I was really intrigued by this story, especially how the author tied in CTE and sports culture, the military, and complicated family relationships. I enjoy Jamie Brenner's writing and how she ties in contemporary issues to family dramas. I just wish the "mystery" in this one had been a little harder to solve - I figured out that Rory was Ethan's father right away and just kept waiting for the characters to catch on. It was also sad to me that, although Emerson finally learned the truth and can now establish a relationship with Ethan, his and Rory's mother passed on never knowing she had a grandchild from Rory. I would have loved to have learned more about Stephanie and wish I had gotten even more insight into her life and her viewpoint beyond Rory and her sister relationship with Lauren.
