The first one I think was better. This series is different where it doesn't have spice. It could be slow to some people, but I think it's a good pace. A relationship doesn't have to go right into sex. It's been two books, and Evie and the villain have only kissed a couple times. The tension is high. This is a different approach for a fantasy series, but I enjoy it.
