The first 70% of the book could have been skipped without missing much in terms of the plot, which left me wishing for more story development early on.
While I normally enjoy smut, I found there was too much of it in this case, and much of it felt repetitive. The steamy scenes began to blur together, lacking the variety that keeps the genre fresh and engaging. Additionally the FMC constantly saying “please” became overly repetitive and started to irritate me.
One element that really took me out of the story was the FMC being portrayed as a complete virgin, yet handling certain sex acts without any issues. This felt completely unrealistic and didn’t match her inexperience.
However, the ending of Madness was a real highlight. The twists and turns in the final act kept me on edge, adding some much needed suspense and intrigue to the story. It’s the gripping finale that salvaged my overall experience and left a lasting impression.
Overall, while Madness has some exciting moments and will appeal to fans of dark, steamy romance, I found it lacking in terms of depth and variety. The conclusion was a strong point, but the repetitiveness and unrealistic portrayal of the FMC made it hard for me to fully enjoy the book.
